We all know that counterpoint is difficult to write well, even though though the underlying harmony tends to become simpler the more that counterpoint becomes a feature.
For now, though, to make anything I have to say about the subject look respectable, it is a good policy to attach a picture of the great man himself!
Chapters 1 to 9 of Free Counterpoint are all finished, notated in Dorico and uploaded here on the site.
Chapter 10, the last one, is, unsurprisingly, the hardest one in the book and it takes a lot of time and effort to get the exercises to sound natural. Nonetheless, all this chapter will be uploaded by the end of January.
Audio performances are in preparation, too, and will be uploaded chapter by chapter, as they are finished.
It’s probably a good idea to do the first couple of chapters using just a piano, to get the process moving along, and then greadually bring in solo strings and also choir as the exercises become more instrument specific, as they get more involved.
